| Time for a new post! I have the BIGGEST praise! The fam took a mini-vacation to Memphis, TN for a long weekend. Great trip! Saw all we wanted to pretty much. Graceland of course! I can't believe the Elvis I was in love with (back in the day) had such gaudy tastes, even for back then. And where was Priscilla when the decorating was done? Abby took 165 pictures so anytime you want to see the peacock (?? stained glass windows in the living room next to the 15 foot white couch leading to the baby grand (only elegant piece), let us know. Or the animal carved furniture. It was GREAT but sad, esp to people like me who loved loved loved Elvis movies. Beale St was fun, Peabody ducks were not at all what I thought they'd be but the Memphis Zoo was fun, altho 3 1/2 hours was a bit much, right Jess? (Abby took a picture of EVERY animal there too haha) ....and so on. Oh yeah, I fought my bridge over water phobia and we drove over into Arkansas. It was overall a great trip. On the way home in Carnack (north of Kosciusko in the middle of nowhere), a 17 year old pulled out in front of us. We were going really fast and he pulled out when we were about 30 feet, if that far, from him. Here's all the miracles- Kendall was driving and not me. We sailed thru a ditch and hurtled across a vacant lot headed toward a sign and trees trying to stop. I was sure we were going to flip. we went thru the sign not knowing if what was on the other side of it, trees, water, ravine, life... death.... and managed to get stopped. My side was not even one foot from an elm tree. We went thru two trees that were each about 1 foot to each side of the car. Abby and I had to climb up and out of the car. My door wouldn't open all the way and I had to kick on it to get it open enough to get out. Abby was in briars when she got her door open. Jess and Kendall could practically fall out when their door opened. We were pretty hysterical. I guess it's different for everyone, but my life did not flash before my eyes, I did not scream "I love you" to my family or "God save us" as I always thought I would when I was faced with immediate death. When I saw the tree coming up, I felt a kind of peace, don't know if I thought it was the end or if I knew we'd be safe. It was all so quick. After I got out I yelled at the boy (very unChristian but I was freaked and I did apologize later), I got down on my knees and thanked God that we were alive. There is no doubt in my mind that God guilded us between those trees and kept his gentle hand on us. We are only bruised some and jarred. I couldn't sleep Sun nite for thinking about all the what ifs. Even the Hwy patrolman said if you had......and we all knew we'd been spared. God is so good! My family is here for a reason and we are all praising God for his mighty protection. | | |
| Saturday was a great day! Went to Bham to an outdoor concert. Well, it's the second time I've been to a concert at the Verizon Amphitheater. And the second time it's rained for the concert. However, since we had VIP seating , we got these hilarious clear ponchos - plastic of course- but they did have VIP in fairly large letters. Abby refused to wear hers and when it started pouring mid Gary Allen, she was forced to put on the bright yellow one without a VIP logo on it. She looked like the school safety patrol- Haha! We got a ton of laughs trying to peel the ponchos apart and find the head part to get it on right. Could have won funniest home videos easily!. Anyway, we saw The Wreckers (not too good) , Gary Allan, great, and Rascal Flatts, awesome. If you like country music or even if you don't they were great entertainers. Anyway, me and my sis and Abby and one of her bfs and one of my bfs and her husband went and we just had a great time! Ask Abby about the girls scouts songs rosey and I forced her and Jade to listen to...well, we put them to sleep, but hey, it was 2 a.m and I was so tired and needed to stay awake driving......
Jessica, sorry you chose not to go, you would have enjoyed it. But I sure did enjoy you being home and staying that extra day. See you Friday! | | |
| Yesterday was a great day! Change of scenery, spending time with my girls, getting things done......
Please excuse the first paragraph of my last post. I'm pretty much over it now.
Y'all be praying for our youth group as they head to California - lots of great things in store for them at IYC.
Enjoy the summer!! | | |
| "People" just make me so angry sometimes. There are so many selfish folks out there. I know we are all a bit selfish but if you're like me you try to hide it from the world. It's something you strive to stop being. It's usually about money but often as not it's about having your way. And it makes me mad that I try to be nice even though someone has really ticked me off. Then on the other hand, my frustration showed through over the phone last week and it was ended up being someone I knew and what an unChristian example I set. No one's perfect but I'll keep praying for wisdom, guidance, understanding, peace......
Got to see my best friend since high school last week. She was passing thru on her way to Atlanta. We may make our "Fabulous Fifty" trip a visit to Savannah, GA. No beach that I know of but something fun anyway. Something to look forward to next spring along with the big bday.
Thursday I'll be in Hburg and will have all morning to wander through SteinMart and Trees and Trends where my two daughters just don't enjoy going. I look forward to that.

| I think I'm supposed to do this fairly regularly so here's a new one. Went to the "famous" El Norte last night with a great bunch of folks. The occasion - Kristy and Brian D are leaving Thursday for 3 years of living in Hawaii - It was hard to be sad because that would be so exciting at this stage of their lives! Anyway, it was fun and when I got my ticket and discovered it was BIGIF - it was even better! (do you see my eldest daughter traits here??) Then to Mack & Charlene's for desert and lots of laughter. Now it's work, work, work, but at least I"m in air conditioned comfort. Looking forward to a brief Hattiesburg trip Friday evening with Abby to go to Hobby Lobby and see Jessica.. | | |
